So in about a year I am going to be a bridesmaid for my little sister. This is just the kind of goal I need to diet, start losing some weight and getting healthier, which all ties in nicely with my quest to be a calmer, happier and healthier person.
I have decided to vlog about my journey as that will give me a visual reminder of where I’ve been and where I am and as it’s something that makes me rather uncomfortable it will also help to keep me in check. Plus it’s always good to push yourself.
During my journey I will be getting to try all kinds of new products and sharing my experiences of them with you.
So it’s just over a week since my last update, I’ve been feeling kind of anxious and very overwhelmed this week. Not ideal when you are trying to diet. So I’ve been working, a lot, so that I can get update and feel less overwhelmed, hence the lateness of this post.
Monday when I weighed myself I had lost 1lb, so I’m 11lb in total over the eight weeks. I’m pleased that I lost the weight I had put on last week, but I have to admit I’m not where I wanted to be. I had wanted to have lost a stone by now ready for my holiday. But hey ho.
I’ve still got my goals to work towards and these have become even more of a push for me to lose the weight, so here they are again, in case you missed them last week and just to remind myself.
- 1st – A new wearable fitness tracker as the one I had been trialling for Teraillon broke and I really miss it.
- 2st – A new chair for my desk, not exciting to some but a big deal for me.
- 3st – A massage and a bottle of prosecco.
I’ve missed not being on an ‘official’ diet this week. Having to sort it all out for myself has been difficult but I have had some help.
One of the things I’d picked up from being on the Jane Plan was a good breakfast, fruit with muesli, granola or porridge. So I have been eating Cuckoo Bircher Muesli, which is to die for, and Lizi’s Granola which is delicious for my breakfasts.
I’ve always enjoyed Lizi’s Granola and now they have launched a low sugar version which contains less than 4% sugar per serving and high protein granola which offers a whopping 27% of your RDA of protein in a single 50g serving. I love granola because you really only need a handful to stay full all day and the low sugar version tastes just as good as the standard, especially considering I always add a berry anyway. The high protein mix has just been really stand out for me, it has kept me so full all day long. Best of all my husband has decided he likes granola, at long last a quick healthy breakfast we cab eat together!
The Bircher Muesli from Cuckoo is great for when I’m on the go, just grab a spoon and eat, plus the flavours are amazing. The mix of oats soaked in apple juice, then mixed with yoghurt and fruit really works for me, Cuckoo have even added in some linseed, which I could not eat on its own but the mix is delightful. I got to try four of the five flavours Apple & Cinnamon Spice (my favourite), Mango & Coconut (only OK), Elderflower & Cranberry (scrummy) & Apricot & Madagascan Vanilla (so smooth and tasty) which just leaves me with Choco Sour Cherry to find and try out, it sounds awesome.
Finally to help me for the next month or so I have been sent a range of supplements from Just Vitamins, to help give me a boost with minimal effort of my part. Today see’s me finishing my first week on the mix they sent me and I have to say not only have they been to take and incorporate into my lifestyle, I honestly think they are working. I need a bit longer to be sure, but I shouldn’t have lost weight last week, I barely exercised. I ate reasonably but not well. But the supplements have helped me. I can feel that I’m not so hungry when I take them. If I eat too much I actually feel quite dodgy afterwards, which I think is down to them too. This is really good.
So I have been taking Glucomannan, 2 tablets, 3 times a day before meals. They say that Glucomannan absorbs so much liquid that if you empty a capsule into a small glass of water, the entire thing turns into a gel. So I’m actually going to try this when I’m back from holiday and see if I can film it. It does go a long way to explaining why it helps you lose weight though!
I’ve also been taking Lecithin & Apple Cider Vinegar tablets, 2 a day, in the morning. These little tablets help my digestion, aid fat metabolism and also help thyroid function, making them perfect to aid a weight loss diet.
Finally I have been using a high quality 1000mg CLA, 2 tablets, twice a day. This is great for people who value a healthy and active lifestyle. It helps boost your metabolism, reduce cholesterol and boosts the immune system, who doesn’t need that. Not only helping my diet but hopefully keeping me free from illness at the same time.
The best bit about ordering from Just Vitamins was that they packed everything in a letterbox friendly box, big tick for that, the delivery was ridiculously fast and I the resealable pouches they come in are way less of a faff then jars, you also get a lot and they are very good value.
My plans for next week and a bit include keeping up with my supplements, going on holiday and getting in lots and lots of walking, hopefully losing a bit of weight but I’ll be happy if I stay the same. No scales for a week. I’ll update you all on my return.
Disclosure – I have been sent my products free of charge in exchange for my honest review.
