Last weekend was International Table Top Games Day and to celebrate we were sent a selection of classic table top games to play and review from John Adams Toys and Ideal. So here I am with game number one, Rummikub. Whilst I had heard of Rummikub I had never played it and was a bt daunted by the rules to start with. There seemed to be an awful lot going on.
The basic idea of the game is to be the first to get rid of all your playing tiles by making groups of numbers. So a set of all the same numbers or a run of numbers in one colour.
The game gets very competitive, though maybe that’s just me and husb. He’s not forgiven me for refusing to play chess with him ever again, you see I’m a 100% winning streak and have been since 2011 when I last played the game. I’m not planning on losing that title!
I will be playing Rummikub again though, it is a lot of fun and easy to pick up. I like that it makes me think and the strategy element really appeals to me.
I may or may not have installed the Rummikub App on my phone so I can get some practise in without husb knowing, ssshhh, don’t tell.
The game is really well made, nice and solid. The stands have little fold down legs for easy storage and the playing pieces are a nice tough plastic. It’s a game built to last and be enjoyed by the whole family.
L is obsessed with it, he likes the little Rummikub faces. Whilst playing he game is totally beyond him, we do a little made up version just putting numbers in order, low to high as we find them.
This is a great family game, a real classic and I am glad I have found it.
Disclosure – I was gifted my game in exchange for an honest review.
