Clearly Scrumptious and Scrummies

Scrummies Review and Giveaway

Scrummies are a delicious and healthy snack aimed at children. Yummy, scrummy fruit in perfect snacking packaging we received a lovely box of samples to try. In the midst of December indulgences they couldn’t have been better timed, or more gratefully received. We also had some Clearly Scrumptious adult snacks too, but L wasn’t fussed by that distinction and claimed everything for himself.

A lovely parcel to come home to

We had been out all day, I can’t even remember where we had been. L and I were both tired and ratty and L was doing his usual ‘I’m hungry’ routine. I just wanted to actually get through the front door and into the house. So the arrival of a lovely box, tied with ribbon and filled with fruity goodness was a sight for sore eyes.

L couldn’t wait to tuck into something, neither could the cat

I was immediately taken with the amount of choice we had. So many different options. L focused straight on the strawberries, his fave fruit, and a bag of dried sweet and chewy strawberries hit the spot perfectly for him.

I love the Scrummies packaging

Whilst he was occupied eating I got a chance to have a proper look at what we had been sent. A selection of more dried fruits and some boxes of the Scrummies flavoured raisin and cranberry mixes. You get 5 x 20g bags in a box and this impressed me too. I like dhow many little bags you got in a box and how perfect for school lunch boxes, day bags and adult evening snacking they were. They are delicious!

Perfect sized snack bags

So here is what we got with L’s verdict and mine if I got a look in.

Apples Wedges – image from Clearly Scrumptious

Crunchy Dried Apple Wedges – these were met with initial childish disgust. He thought he was getting crisps and therefore hated the apples that were not crisps. But after some discussion he decided that he does indeed love apples and also loves crisps and these are like apple crisps, so he loves them. I managed to grab a couple and they are very tasty. I also love that they are not sticky, a good size and a very good, non messy, car snack.

Juicy Cranberries – Image from Clearly Scrumptious

Juicy Dried Cranberries – L was not a fan of these. He likes the cranberries mixed in with the raisins, but all on their own was too much for him and he’d eat a couple but then leave the rest. I rather like them, but I am a fan of cranberries.

Tangy Dried Golden Berries – neither of us liked these. They certainly are tangy! L tried a few but really didn’t like them so I got plenty to try but I am not a fan either.

Sweet Strawberries – Image from Clearly Scrumptious

Sweet Dried Strawberries – L loved them. Really loved them. He would have eaten several bags all in one sitting. I can’t tell you what they are like as I was not allowed to try even one of them!

Raspberry Flavoured Dried Cranberries and Raisins – L enjoys raisins anyway but he was rather taken with the flavoured ones from Scrummies. It took him by surprise to start with but he really loved the raspberry flavour.

Blueberry Flavoured Dried Cranberries and Raisins – out of the three flavours of cranberries and raisins these were L’s least favourite. He still really enjoys them though. He;s always loved his fruits, especially berries. But for me it is so much easier to carry around blueberry flavoured raisins than a punnet of squishy, blue staining fresh blueberries.

Strawberry Flavoured Dried Cranberries and Raisins – another big hit with L. I noticed a few packs making their way into husbs lunch bag too. The strawberry really shines through and does make the cranberries and raisins a bit different. I think this is why they are so popular with kids, they have transformed a standard snack into something a bit special .
