Kids Parcel – Mystery Box Review

L is one very lucky boy. Very lucky indeed. He was recently asked if he would like to receive a mystery box, filled with toys, from Kids Parcel. Timing wise it couldn’t have been better, arriving just a few days before his birthday.

He was so excited when it arrived after he’d been at nursery all day it was a struggle to get him to bed. Thankfully we managed and the next day we opened it up together. Bright and early!  Continue reading Kids Parcel – Mystery Box Review

L turned three the other weekend so to celebrate we had a little birthday party with our family.

He is happy with the attention for the day and it keeps both the cost and stress manageable for me, just, it’s still stressful filling your house with people, family or not!

Feeling Calm #38

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

This week has been crazy. We’ve done so much. We’ve been to London for a PlayStation Family event. I’ve been training, a lot. Mainly though L has turned three. Three whole entire years old. How did that happen?

Emotion wise I’ve been bouncing from amazingly happy to crushingly sad. For me this is a real worry as it’s one of my biggest indicators that the darkness is closing in. Another classic sign for me is the cold sores. Whenever I get really low I get cold sores. The 14 I have invading my lower lip at the moment though, is quite frankly, a piss take. At least because I know this I can concentrate finding a level place.

I need to find time to start meditating again. I’ve been having my lunch breaks in my car, so this seems like the ideal time for a few moments reflection. I also need to be writing, so I’m busy. Luckily I have plenty to write about. Without further ado here are my 10 moments from the past 7 days;

To My Son on Your Third Birthday

Oh my word tomorrow is your birthday and you will be three years old and I literally don’t know where the time has gone.

You have changed so much this year it is hard to know what to say to you.

I asked him to smell the flowers, picturing a gorgeous shot in my head, this is what he does.

More than anything I want you to know how loved you are and how special you are. I hope you know this anyway and it is doesn’t need to be written down.

Feeling Calm #36

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

Sorry this is a day late. Husb and I had a few days away and instead of writing this when I got home last night. I collapsed into a tired heap on the sofa with half a bottle of wine. Whoops.

I start my new job tomorrow. I have a lump in my chest. A knot of tension. I’m far from calm at this precise moment. Am I making the right decision, how much will impact our lives, things work so nicely with me at home.

All I know is we need some money and there’s no point me striving to stay at home if I don’t have a home to stay in. I hope this is just a temporary bump in the road. Only time will tell though. Wish me luck for tomorrow.

Oh and as I’m typing this I get a phone call from the garage, which has my car for the fourth time over recent weeks, to be told that another car has rolled into it. I really could cry right now. When it rains it pours.

So as ever I’m focusing on the positives. Here are my 10 moments from the past 7 days, enjoy them whilst I rock slowly in a corner; Continue reading Feeling Calm #36

This Plus That Equals…. My Favourite Norfolk Walks

This plus that equals…. My Favourite Norfolk Walks

Here’s the latest instalment in my series of posts all about what makes our lives here at home tick. This week is a list of my favourite walks in Norfolk. We’re off to Lincoln for a long weekend, when husb asked what I wanted to do, I literally had no clue other than to get out for some good, long, at a decent pace, walks. It can be hard to do with a toddler sometimes.

So I’d been looking for some walking inspiration in and around Lincoln and it got me thinking of my favourite places to walk at home in sunny Norfolk, especially now we have L.

This Plus That Equals…. How I Stay Positive

This plus that equals…. How I Stay Positive

Here’s the latest instalment in my series of posts all about what makes our lives here at home tick. This week is all about what I do to stay positive. This isn’t something that comes naturally to me, but it is something I have actively been working on this year. Despite finding it difficult at times I believe it is worth while and I feel so much happier for it, so I thought I’d share my tips with you.

Big Fun in a Small Package

Who else struggles for space in their house? Hands up. I know we do and the older L gets the worse it seems to become. His toys seemingly multiply overnight, not to mention the fact that as he has grown his toys have too.

For ages now we have wanted to get him some form of play house, but we physically haven’t had anywhere to put one, apart from the garden and have you seen how much a wooden playhouse for the garden costs! To have a playhouse in his room would mean not being able to open his wardrobe. To have one in the sitting room would either mean not being able to see the TV or not being able to open the door, neither of which are good options.

Feeling Calm #32

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

I’m still really struggling this week. My emotions have been all over the place. Plenty of hiding so I can sob into a pillow and trying not to let L see it. I got the job I interviewed for, I’m just waiting for the formal offer. Trouble is I don’t want it. I really, really, really don’t want to to be an employee again. Honestly I thought that I would have enough time to pick up more clients before I got a sniff at any of the jobs I was applying for. I was only doing it to show willing. That backfired.

Now I know I’ll be spread too thinly to make anything really work. I’ve been loving blogging, mummying and running all the social accounts and building that up when I’ve had a moment. Now I’ll be working, mummying, trying to blog and working with my current client to do a great job for them but I won’t have time to give anything all the attention it needs and I know in my heart of hearts that if my new client goes that will be it for my Self Employed venture.

I’m devastated. This week more than ever writing has been my solace. The thing keeping me grounded and whilst my journal has been way more ‘ranty’ than usual, it’s still filled with my happy moments. As you can imagine, picking ten has been very therapeutic for me.

So here are my top 10 moments from the past 7 days; Continue reading Feeling Calm #32

Summer Fun from The Natural History Museum Shop

However much I’d like to be able to take L to The Natural History Museum all the time, it’s just not practical. Thankfully the Natural History Museum Shop has some great options so that we can enjoy the fun at home.
