Things to Know about Working from Home #2

Don’t apologise for being a parent

When I started blogging two years ago the aim was to help me find a way, any way, to stay at home. I tried a few different things, took a few courses and found myself working as a Social Media Manager. I was able to leave my admin job and am now officially self employed. I thought I would start sharing some of the things I have learnt along the way.

Just because I play with my son doesn’t mean I’m not professional

As soon as people find out I am a mum, a mum who works to stay at home with her son, they all of a sudden seem to think I am incapable of doing a job, this often left me feeling I had to justify myself and do more, I’m sure this is the same for stay at home Dad’s too.  What I have come to find though is that apologising for being who I am doesn’t help and here’s why.  Continue reading Things to Know about Working from Home #2

In Love With Light – Lumie Bodyclock Active 250

Oh yes, Spring had sprung, everything is lighter and brighter and that makes everyone happier. Daylight is clearly an important thing.

With that in mind you can understand why I love Lumie so much.

We’re big fans of Lumie in our house, I use the Desk Lamp at my workspace and my husband has been using the Iris Bodyclock which also works as an aromatherapy diffuser, so when we were sent the Active 250 to review, with it’s radio and white noise functions it made sense to me that I nabbed the other half’s Iris which I had been lusting over and he used the Active 250. Get Fit and Donate Your Skips

The Nation Goes Skipping Mad For Sport Relief #SureSkipathon is aiming to get Brits donating one million skips. With a fun app that you have to beat get skipping, get fit and have fun for Sports Relief.

Did you know that skipping is one of the happiest sports as two thirds of Brits find it impossible to skip without a smile on their face (62 per cent). I am one of those Brits, it is true, I am rubbish and I find skipping with the app almost impossible but I was smiling, sweaty and gross, but smiling.  Continue reading Get Fit and Donate Your Skips

My Travels with El Camino Bracelets

I always consider myself lucky that I get to try new things as a blogger and still find it strange that people value my opinion. Every now and then I get to try something that really stands out from the crowd and I fell luckier still, that’s exactly how I feel about El Camino.

The concept is simple, a charm bracelet dedicated to travel, but the reality is fun and stylish and most importantly affordable.  Continue reading My Travels with El Camino Bracelets

Feeling Calm #10

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

I feel a bit of a fraud this week, writing a post about feeling calm when I have been far from it. I have been tired, irritable, overwhelmed and over stretched and this resulted in my completely loosing it with the little one yesterday which needless to say made feel super shitty. This week more so than most I have felt the burden of everything lay on me, my immediate support system is not the best and I need to admit this and reach out more.

I’ve been trying everything I can to help me maintain some semblance of calm, writing my journal, meditating when I get a chance, which isn’t as much as I’d like or need, walking and trying to go to bed at a good time, but ultimately returns to one thing, time. So I need to get a lot better at managing it, so I have time, time for me, 10 minutes a day shouldn’t be so hard to find, I just need to make sure I do it as it sure as hell isn’t going to be given to me.

Importantly there have been lovely things this week so here are my top ten moments from the last 7 days: Continue reading Feeling Calm #10

Things to Know About Working from Home #1

Preparing for meetings with a toddler in the house

When I started blogging two years ago the aim was to help me find a way, any way, to stay at home. I tried a few different things, took a few courses and found myself working as a Social Media Manager. I was able to leave my admin job and am now officially self employed. I thought I would start sharing some of the things I have learnt along the way.

This week I had a meeting with a potential new client, preparing for meetings is important but with a toddler in the house it can be tough!  Continue reading Things to Know About Working from Home #1

Feeling Calm #9

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

This week has been all about illness, ugh! I dropped a perfectly healthy child off at nursery on Friday to get the dreaded ‘he’s got a temperature’ call a few hours later. He made it through the day at nursery quite nicely, saving the fevers, coughs, vomiting and general illness for us over the weekend. Yeah, Mother’s Day was a blast I’m lying. Then just as I thought he was getting better my sinuses tried to make my head explode and he went straight back to being ill again.

The joy of working from home means I don’t have to worry about him not being able to go to nursery and rush around sorting out babysitters and such forth, it just means I’m really behind where I should be this week. Hopefully he’ll be back to normal soon.

So here are my top ten moments from the last 7 days: Continue reading Feeling Calm #9
