You may remember back in February I’d set myself some goals for the year. Well it turns out some of them have been rather easy and I should have stretched myself further. Others have seen no movement whatsoever, so here is a little update on my progress and some new goals where needed.
Read 12 Books this Year
Well I’m currently reading book number 11 and I’ve listened to an audiobook with and am halfway through a second audiobook. So I think this needs revisiting as we’ve not even finished April yet. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed Little Friends by Jane Shemilt and I’m still reeling after Red Notice by Bill Browder. I can’t even talk about Firefly Lane yet, watching it on Netflix wasn’t enough so I had to read it, a rollercoaster of emotions that one! At the end of the year I’ll write a proper round up of what I have read but for now I think I need to stretch my goal to 20 books.
Find 100 Geocaches this Year
Well I’ve smashed through this one. When I wrote it I had actually meant just to get my total to 100, from the 35 I was at. It had taken me a fair while to get to 35 so I felt that was achievable and reasonable. Well, as of today my total is 162. So clearly that needs to be revisited. So I’m going to say I’d like my total to be sat at 300 by the end of the year, that is a real stretch but I think it’s achievable. We’ve well and truly got the bug and have been having a blast going out and hunting for them, so it’s a fun challenge to have.
Go on 1 Holiday
We are no closer to achieving this than when I wrote it in February. I’d still love to get away somewhere in the UK this year but it’s not feeling overly possible at the moment. I’ve seen people having UK breaks but I’m not sure I’m there yet. I would still love to get back to Bluestone so I’m hoping we all get some time off together were I can afford that but it seems that it’s school holiday prices holding us back, not the restrictions around Covid-19. That being said we have booked a holiday in Turkey for next year, so fingers crossed that actually goes ahead. So this goal is to remain.
Use my Spa Vouchers
Friday. FRIDAY!! The spa is open, they have spaces and on Friday I shall be having a Life Saving Back Treatment. A salt scrub, hot stones and a massage. I was starting to think I’d never get to use my vouchers, having had to extend them twice, but when they reopened on the 12th there was no stopping me. I called and literally went through all my days off until they had a spot and it wasn’t as long of a wait as I had expected. I’m rather excited. So by Friday this shall be ticked off and done.
Teach L to Swim
So pools are open now but we haven’t been yet. The private pool we were using hasn’t had any spaces and as that’s where L feels most comfortable it’s definitely where I want at least his first swim after such a long break to be. So I shall keep my eyes peeled for any available swim slots. Once he’s gotten back into the swing of it I think we’ll have to start booking public pools so he can get the maximum amount of time in the water possible, but as he’s got such a fear of it I don’t want to push him too hard, too fast. This one was always going to be the hardest challenge, but fingers crossed we’ll make some progress soon.
It’s Mother’s Day this week and thanks to a ridiculous schedule, not feeling myself and a million other little things I am woefully unprepared. So I’ve put together a little gift guide of things that are thoughtful, useful and a little luxurious for all the Mum’s who are feeling overwhelmed just like me.
You may remember that I recently hosted a competition giving away a Red Letter Days Spa day. Well hopefully my winner has got a lovely relaxing day booked in, I recently tried out a Red Letter Days Spa Day for myself.
I have got to be kinder to myself, I have got to be easier on myself, I have got to look after myself. So I have been careful recently to not put so much pressure on and to make sure I create downtime and I partake in a little of self care. It has started with actually using some of the wonderful things I got for Mother’s Day.
I am very excited to share this competition with you all! It’s one of my favourite things to do, so I know you will all love it. Oh yes, you could win a Spa Day for two people from the amazing Red Letter Days.
If somehow you haven’t heard of Red Letter Days they provide a wide range of gift experiences, from dining out to racing cars and of course spa days.
Like every parent we crave a bit of time off, so when Wynyard Hall asked if we would like to stay I grabbed the opportunity to get L off to his grandparents and booked some time in their Spa!!
Wynyard Hall is in County Durham, so a fair old journey for us, but we were yet to celebrate our wedding anniversary and love the area having recently been on holiday nearby so it was perfect for us. I am so glad we made the journey. It is seriously the most luxurious weekend I have ever had. EVER.
For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.
This week has been fairly boring, thankfully! There have been some lovely moments, some toddler tantrum not so lovely moments and some fairly mundane moments. It’s actually been quite normal and peaceful which is always nice.
I booked our package through Spa Seekers, which was fine and I got an awesome deal, but what wasn’t mentioned, at any point, was that our package didn’t include robe and towel hire, so whilst I would recommend both Spa Seekers for the deals and Clarice House for the loveliness I will say now you need to make sure that your package includes everything you assume it would.
Our package included an hour long massage, 30 minute facial, 30 minute manicure and 30 minute pedicure, as well as lunch and use fo the facilities. Pure bliss.
