Feeling Calm #35

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

So in a complete shift from recent weeks I have interviewed for and accepted a job at my local supermarket. I know, I know. I want to stay at home. The thought of returning to employed life was making sob. But just at this current moment I cannot do it anymore. I need some stability and some money!

It’s been a rough few months but I feel OK about this decision. I’ll be working selling phones, so at least something I know about. It’s also only contracted for a few hours a week, so I can pick up more if I choose or not if I’m busy blogging and parenting. Should that be the other way round. Probably! I’m being way more focused about my blog. Less so about the social media work. Hopefully I’ll find a balance that works for me.

So with everything that is going on I have loved picking my top 10 moments from the past 7 days, it’s very therapeutic. So here they are; Continue reading Feeling Calm #35

Taking Risks and Making Decisions

If you’ve been reading my blog over the last month or so you’ll have sensed a change in me. Less upbeat. More worried. Definitely more stressed. You’ll also know this is because I felt like I was losing my dream.

So now I think it’s time for a catch up. A proper one. Honest, warts and all catch up on what has been going on in my life this month. As it is real life, my real life. The reason I think most of you read this, although I’m never sure I’ll know why. But thank you so much, as the kind comments I’ve had these last few weeks have truly meant the world to me and kept me going.  Continue reading Taking Risks and Making Decisions

Feeling Calm #32

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends. To help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

I’m still really struggling this week. My emotions have been all over the place. Plenty of hiding so I can sob into a pillow and trying not to let L see it. I got the job I interviewed for, I’m just waiting for the formal offer. Trouble is I don’t want it. I really, really, really don’t want to to be an employee again. Honestly I thought that I would have enough time to pick up more clients before I got a sniff at any of the jobs I was applying for. I was only doing it to show willing. That backfired.

Now I know I’ll be spread too thinly to make anything really work. I’ve been loving blogging, mummying and running all the social accounts and building that up when I’ve had a moment. Now I’ll be working, mummying, trying to blog and working with my current client to do a great job for them but I won’t have time to give anything all the attention it needs and I know in my heart of hearts that if my new client goes that will be it for my Self Employed venture.

I’m devastated. This week more than ever writing has been my solace. The thing keeping me grounded and whilst my journal has been way more ‘ranty’ than usual, it’s still filled with my happy moments. As you can imagine, picking ten has been very therapeutic for me.

This Plus That Equals…. Feeling Like a Failure

This plus that equals…. Feeling Like a Failure

Here’s the latest instalment in my series of posts all about what makes our lives here at home tick. This week is all about me and how I’m feeling. Fairly rubbish as you may have guessed from the title. Now I’m not after a load of sympathy, I just need to write about why I feel like a failure, get it off my chest and then hopefully start to feel a bit better.

Win an amazing Mumpreneur course

You may have guessed from the name of my blog, Any Way To Stay At Home, I did not want to be tied to the office after the birth of my son. I don’t think of myself as a Mumpreneur, but maybe I am.

I like many mum’s wanted the freedom to be my own boss and work from home. It has not been easy. Not at all. In fact just this week things have gone wrong for me (post to follow).

Despite all the up’s and down’s, home is still where I want to be. I don’t want to have to worry about my son being ill and how I can balance caring for him and a job. I love being able to go to everything without any worries. I am in charge of my schedule. Mainly I really love just being able to maximise my time with him.

Feeling Calm #21

For my birthday I was given a great new book ‘Calm’ and a journal from my friends to help me find some calm in my life and to de-stress a little. I have been writing in my journal everyday and on Wednesday’s I go through the daily highlights I’ve written down and pick out my 10 favourites.

This week I’ve felt rather stressed and behind with things work wise, as for actual paid work I’m not behind at all, blog reviews I’m not quite where I want to be but equally I’m not being chased so it can’t be that bad but blogging the personal things I want to write about I’m not even close.

I know things have to be prioritised and my blog should just be a bit of fun so I shouldn’t be stressing about it, but that’s just the kind of person I am. So today the boy is at nursery and I’m sat out in the garden and planning to catch up a bit.

It’s weeks like this where I have really noticed how my Mindfulness practises really help, I take 15 minutes out of my evening to write down one thing that made me feel calm, one thing I’m grateful for and my top three moments of the day. This focuses my mind on the positives and makes me feel happier, it also allows me to see trends and invariably my calm moments are going cycling, walking or cuddling with my boy, so I know I need to do a lot more of that. I also take 20 minutes a day to meditate, which is tough when I feel I’m behind on things, but I do it anyway and I feel amazing and way more productive afterwards.
