The Nest Protect Smoke and CO Alarm is the best gift you can get your family this Christmas. I’m going to explain why and its for more than just safety.
I literally never thought I’d be so excited about a smoke alarm but I really am. It does everything I need it to do and more, it looks good, definitely ticks all my gadgety, geeky boxes and links with the other Nest products.
There are two versions available, battery fed and mains. We have got the battery version. It’s really easy to set up we had it up and running in minutes. Running off batteries means you can set it up anywhere, with ease.
I’m not going to go into loads of detail about the set up process, it’s so simple and the instructions are so good. You remove the tag behind batteries sync to the app on your phone and follow through the instructions that come in the box. Pop it on the ceiling and enjoy the brilliance of this amazing bit of tech.
So why do I love it so much?
Well it looks so much nicer than any other smoke alarm, really sleek.
It detects smoke and Carbon Monoxide that we have to worry about Carbon Monoxide that at home as we don’t have gas, but it’s a good feature to have for most other people and it’s all in one unit.
It has an automatic night light feature. Detecting when it’s lighting up a white circle. Perfect for nighttime trips It’s also L bit more the dark this light turn on for him.
It doesn’t beep at you and make you want to Phoebe it. No, instead when you turn off the lights at night, it lets off a green glow, letting you the batteries are at the house is smoke free. If the batteries aren’t OK it will let you know via the app and with a yellow light which is so much less annoying! All that means you never have to remember to test the batteries yourself, another win.
It talks to you! I love this feature I had burnt some toast the other day and instead of the alarm just going off it very calmly spoke to me ‘smoke detected in the hallway’. It also sent a notification to my phone, allowing me to turn the alarm off and just kept an eye on things. LOVE IT!
It won’t confuse steam for smoke, ever.
It works with the other Nest products. So if you have more than one Nest Protect connected, they will talk to each other, monitoring any situation that may arise and they’ll tell where the problem started. If you have the Thermostat and a fire is detected, it will tell the Thermostat to turn off your heating, as having it on can spread fire faster.
The App is fantastic. Just allowing you to check up on things for peace of mind. Test the alarm. Monitor when you’re away from home. It’s been well designed and thought out. It runs smoothly and does what you need it to.
I’ve babbled on for ages now, but long story short, I love it, it is worth every penny and I really want to full create a Nest connected home based solely on my experience with this product, it’s ease of use and quality.
