This plus that equals…. December plans
Here’s the latest instalment in my series of posts all about what makes our lives here at home tick. This week is all about my plans for the coming month.
Elves Behavin’ Badly
We do elves every year and this year, as brand ambassadors, it’s going to be fun with Elves Behavin’ Badly.
I’m looking forward to staging some fun scenes with them and seeing if I can make L laugh every morning.
It’s going to be fun.
It’s got to be done and it will probably be done more than once.
I love to visit Elveden Estate, just the two of us and watch all the festive goings on. We obviously try to do something just the three of as well.
Then there’s the grandparents to involve. To be fair it can get a bit much. But it’s only once a year.
Christmas Day is reserved for just the three of us. We’ll see family on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, but Christmas Day is for us.
We’ll wake up early and open presents. Try and force a non chocolate breakfast into the child. A Christmas Tree crumpet tends to do the job.
Then it’s off for a walk before I cook lunch. Not a full roast, but fancy pies with all the trimmings.
Christmas Movie. Crackers and cheese, a bit of wine, something snacky. Then it’s hot chocolate’s all round and bed.
We’ve a lot of family so I have to be firm or it gets silly.
We’ll see my family on Christmas Eve for a buffet style meal and present swapping. Boxing day we’ll go to see husb’s family and most likely stay the night with them so we can both enjoy a tipple, then it’s straight off to work for me and Christmas is over.
Christmas can be a bit of a nightmare when it comes to appeasing family. We don’t have the space, or the energy, to entertain everyone on Christmas Day. So to keep it fair it’s easier if we don’t see anyone on the day. All gift opening is done with the respective gift givers so they all get to watch L open his presents. Happy days.
Something Just For Me
This is now definitely to be a permanent fixture. I deserve one moment a month just for me.
If I’m honest all of December is kind of for me. From decorating the tree to wrapping presents I love it all. So husb is under strict instructions to keep his bah humbug thoughts to himself and let me revel in the joy.
He’ll also have to watch Elf at least once without moaning.
L is obviously 100% behind my plans as I have bred a Christmas monster!
