This plus that equals…. why I love Christmas
Here’s the latest instalment in my series of posts all about what makes our lives here at home tick. This week is all about Christmas and why I love it so much.

Decorations
I love getting the house decorated. December starts and the tree is out. All my decorations I have collected over the years, each and every one with a story. All the bits in each room of the house.
I love the cosy feeling and the smell and the memories they bring. As I type I’m looking at my tree with the bead candy cane L made at nursery last year, the wirework star I made at the Handmade fair this year, the two bears hugging we bought from Crater Lake in Oregon, during the height of summer, just after we got married. Nothing matches but everything goes together perfectly.

Clothes
I love a good Christmas Jumper. They combine everything I love. A chunky knit. Glitter. Sequins. Festive charm.
Pretty much every day during December you’ll find me in Christmas wear. Then there are the kids clothes. When L was a baby I delighted in dressing him up, nothing lifts the fog of sleep deprivation than a cute little Christmas Pudding and now we can completely twin it in our festive jumpers.
It just makes me happy.

Food
Mince Pies. Chocolate Coins. Roast dinners. Cheese, crackers and pickles. Nuts and fruits.
Christmas food is made for me. The rich spiciness. The warmth. It’s just like a giant hug. Don’t even get me started on the drink. If it’s mulled I want it
I like the making of the food too, the traditions we are building. Making a gingerbread house with L on Christmas Eve. Baking cakes together. Hiding in the kitchen for an hour on Christmas Day making lunch and having a break after the present opening chaos.

Films
Elf is my favourite film. Watched it twice already this December.
But I also love all the cheesy Lifetime specials, the obvious drama and happily ever afters.
Then there are the kids movies, all of the Disney and everything else. I can’t get enough.
The good, the bad and the ugly. I don’t care. I’ll be watching it, hopefully with a hot chocolate or maybe even a G&T. On my own or with the family. I don’t care but the TV will be showing something festive.

Time Off
Working in retail I don’t get much but what I do get is precious. The fact it is a guaranteed day just the three of us, a day we’ll be at home doing all the things I love, I cannot tell you how much I’m looking forward to it.
This year I have three days off and they are jam packed but looking great.
Seeing family, relaxing, drinking, going for our traditional Christmas Day walk (hopefully in the snow, I can dream), waiting on people and being waited on, exchanging gifts and playing games. I can’t wait.
Finally, I’m linking up with #TwinklyTuesday, #Blogstravaganza, #StayClassyMama and #fortheloveofBLOG
Yes! Yes! Yes!
I can’t possibly get enough of red sweaters and sparkly things and Christmas napkins at every meal and all the festive marks of this beautiful season!
