This plus that equals…. things I want to remember
Here’s the latest instalment in my series of posts all about what makes our lives here at home tick. This week is all about the little things happening at the moment I want to remember. It’s been a while since I wrote down all those little things L is doing at the moment that I love. It’s important to me to remember those little things that seem so normal at the moment but will pass me by too soon.
Today it was over a fish finger sarnie. He was leaping about the kitchen with the joy of being given a fish finger sarnie for lunch.
I love fish fingers don’t I mummy? They are my favourites. Thank you so much my darling mummy. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You made that for me didn’t you? I love it so much. Can we phone daddy and tell him? I love you so much mummy.
He gets like this over a few things. Like non nursery days, any toy with wheels, cheese strings and the cat. Not all the time, just every now and then. He’ll also hate the exact same things with the same passion at random. You know just to keep me on my toes.
My Darling, My Sweetheart
I love it when he does this. He’ll come in for a cuddle and stroke my head and call me his darling mummy, his sweetheart. He called me a cutie pie the other day.
He 100% is just copying what we call him but it is adorable from him. Especially couple with the cuddles.
He shows the same level of affection to the cat and his giraffe Gerry. He is also often has an ulterior motive. I just don’t care though. I’m going to cherish every darling, sweetheart and cutie pie I get.
He is currently obsessed with going for walks. Him on his balance bike and us racing behind him. He mainly likes to this at home round our little estate but I can persuade him to go further afield with a little effort.
He also loves going to the beach at the moment. Only Cromer. Other beaches don’t cut it as far as he is concerned at the moment. I’m just happy that he loves to be outdoors playing.
That kid loves to sing. In the back of the car. Whilst I’m in the shower, When we’re cooking together. Whilst I’m desperately trying to do something that requires silence!!
We have the classics like Twinkle, Twinkle. Tunes from his fave YouTube shows. The Paw Patrol theme tune.
I also get little songs he has made up on the spot and these are my favourite. Even when he gets cross at me for not knowing the words or being able to find the music to the song that only he knows on my phone. Who can blame him though. Obviously I should know that classic tune ‘naughty tractor, tractor you squashed my giraffe’.
Playing by himself
He is really good at playing by himself. This has a lot of obvious benefits. What I really like to do is watch him, or listen to him, playing his little games. I have to be careful not to be caught or he will stop and get cross with me!
The games get so intricate, with multiple characters, each with their own voice and storyline. Sometimes the games are clearly playing out things he sees us doing as grown ups. Grocery shopping, working, fixing things. Other times they are completely outlandish and I have no idea how his mind has come up with them. Whatever the game, it feels like a privilege to see them unfold.
