Trying Out the Turtle Bay Christmas Menu

As anyone who entered my recent competition will know, Turtle Bay have launched their first ever Christmas menu. So we did the only logical thing and went to try it out. Hopefully my competition winner will enjoy it as much as we did.

Just a bit of research

We headed into Norwich on Saturday for a spot of shopping and a nice lunch. The Turtle Bay in Norwich is nice and central, so perfect for a night out or a pit stop at lunch time if you are shopping. It’s a god sized restaurant and has lots of different areas to eat in, all separated out  bit, so you never feel cramped.

Whilst Husb and I enjoyed the 4 course festive menu, L was eating from the kids menu which has the same Turtle Bay vibe but a lot less Turtle Bay spice. He really enjoys the food so it’s a safe bet for us, he also loves the music, enjoys chatting to the waiters and even likes the bathroom due to the car tyre sinks!

Trini Chickpeas

The festive menu is £24.00 a head and a couple of the items have to be pre-ordered, which I can’t see being an issue as we normally pre-order for our festive meals as there is a large group of us. This has a minimum booking of 8, so perfect for a work night out. The menu is available now up until 31st December, except for Christmas Day, they’ll be home with their families then.

Sweetcorn Fritters

When you arrive you’ll find Garlic ‘n’ Herb Flatbread, Trini Chickpeas and Spicy Pork Rinds waiting for you. We didn’t bother with the flatbread, after all there was only the two of grown ups and L and there were another three courses to try. Plus I’ve had in before, several times and am fully aware of its deliciousness. Husb loved the Pork Rinds, good and spicy with a nice crunch. I couldn’t get enough of the Trini Chickpeas, which were actually really filling, but I couldn’t stop eating them, so yummy.

Wings

When it came to starters the choice was tough but I went for Sweetcorn Fritters, because they are super yummy and one of my favourite things on their menu and husb had the Mango Pit Wings, which were gone very quickly. I swear I hadn’t finished my second fritter by the time he had eaten all his wings, I seriously thought he was going to lick the bowl out.

Goat Curry

We both had curries for our main. Husb going for the famous Goat curry and I had a delicious vegetarian curry with Spinach, Aubergine and Sweet Potato. The rice that comes with the curries is a work of art, perfectly cooked, each grain separate and so tasty. The curries are hot, perfectly spiced to get your lips tingling, but not so much you can’t taste and enjoy your dish. The vegetable curry was the perfect flavour combination, so fresh and remarkably light. Husb said the Goat was far more tender than he was expecting and absolutely delicious, he was literally tipping the bowl at the end of his meal to scrape up the last morsel of sauce and tried to get a batch to take home!

Whilst husb and I were making our way through our food L was busy tucking into his own flatbread and chips and just soaking in the atmosphere. The music got to him so much there was lots of dancing which was very cute.

L’s Flatbread

If I’m honest neither of needed, nor really wanted dessert, but so we could fully test the menu we powered on through. I had the Banana & Toffee Cheesecake that was for the main part eaten by L as he decided it was far better than his scoop of ice cream! It was better in all fairness, absolutely delicious and quite frankly my son is the only person I would have shared it with, sorry husb, but he is cuter. Husb had the Sticky Black Treacle Pudding and the rest of L’s Ice Cream!!! He was very impressed with his sweet and sticky pudding.

The atmosphere sucked them in!

There is a chance a may have sampled a cocktail whilst dining, well 2 as they are 2 for 1 and it would have been rude to see one go to waste. The cocktails are reason alone to visit Turtle Bay, loads of choice and amazingly good value.

Mmmm Cocktails

As ever we got great service. Jack was brilliant and looked after us really well. There’s a reason we keep going back to Turtle Bay, in fact there are two. We always get amazing service and the food is to die for.
