We’re at the midway point of the Easter Holidays and despite being ridiculously busy with a load of fun stuff, and some very not so fun stuff, I always like to have some quick hit activities ready to go. The Beaker Creature Reactor Pods from Learning Resources are the perfect fun activity that requires no set up, little to no cleaning up and provides a whole heap of entertainment.
Beaker Creatures are contained within what is essentially a brightly coloured bath bomb. The kids get to pop it into a bowl, jug or sink of water and watch the colourful, fizzy and hopefully bubbly reaction. Then they get to fish out a little plastic egg containing one of 35 collectable creatures.
The Reactor Pods actually make a great alternative to Easter Eggs, being round, containing a surprise and delighting children but with no sugar and none of you having to deal with a kid on an Easter Egg high.
I loved how bright and colourful they are and how simple it was to have fun and talk science with the kid. We enjoyed the mini quizzes that came with each pod and the filling in the identifier cards, a nice addition that makes the fun last a little longer.
The only thing that was a little disappointing was the picture of the reaction on the boxes shows a bowls overflowing with bubbles and with our four we just got fizzing, nothing so exciting as a bubble explosion. It’s just a little thing and certainly wouldn’t stop me getting them again or recommending them but I’d love to see the pictures removed as they are a bit misleading and there’s enough fun to be had without.
If you would like to try Beaker Creature Reactor Pods for yourself the guys at Learning Resources have given me two to giveaway to one lucky winner, whoop.
